Following the news article posted on the web site https://shawston.global-river.info/the-md-forum-meeting-with-high-wycombe-drivers Shawston Group internal communication has gathered real momentum.
Managing Director, Rob Davenport, has now completed his initial phase of one to one meetings with the entire workforce of almost 100 employees.
Another 5am start saw a meeting with drivers in the Shawston Manchester Depot, followed by discussions with stores, sales office and finance. This was replicated at Shawston Tube in Salford and also Shawston Glasgow.
The recent meeting in Glasgow culminated in a few beers in the wonderful city centre, and a chance to bond with the Glasgow team who are approaching their second birthday since the branch was opened, (but they have passed the ‘newbie’ baton on to their friends at Shawston Birmingham!)
The team in Glasgow have developed an incredibly robust customer service platform and during the recent meetings were able to learn more about company expansion but also contribute ideas and suggestions to develop the business further.
Shawston Manchester proposed some brilliant capital expenditure projects to enhance the fabrication facility and to also consider the construction of a purpose built trade counter to emulate the London and Birmingham sites…..watch this space.
Asked how he was feeling about internal communication, Rob said “It has been an unbelievably powerful three months ‘on the road’. It’s not just my meetings, the directors and managers have been fantastic and embraced the notion of listening to their teams a lot more, but the most pleasing aspect has to be the teams themselves. I would never have imagined we would receive so many business ideas and suggestions. I always knew our team was powerful, but seeing it come to life, with proposals coming from the sharp end is exactly how Shawston needs to run. We are definitely on a roll it is becoming obvious that our company is being managed by the team at all levels. The road show meetings have been the highlight of my business year so far.”
Everyone’s talking and long may that continue!
